I wish all Swiss people (except the primitives, of course) a wonderful National Day. Since I feel somewhat patriotic here, I put up a flag on my terraceπ¨π. I had actually ordered four flags, but that seemed a bit over the top π .
Yes, I know that the word "patriotic" may seem a little strange in my case, since Switzerland is not my country of birth. That does not bother me, though; I still feel that way. Back in Austria, I didn't think much of patriotism, so I never owned a flag. I could not even tell you when Austrian National Day is π³.
To me, Switzerland is a gem that should be protected and preserved. Of course, there are plenty of idiots here too, which I find very unfortunate, but my love is for the country itself. I also see Switzerland as a very strong country. Surrounded by EU countries, this very small country has nevertheless chosen not to join the EU. That is strength.
In any case, I do not feel like a foreigner here, but like a local. After all, I have loved Switzerland, and Sils in the Engadin in particular, since 2018. Quite a few romantic relationships between people last for a much shorter time.
Happy birthday, wonderful Switzerland! It is an honor for me to live here π¨ππ¨ππ¨π!
